“I fully support Mark’s candidacy and look forward to serving beside him in the legislature next year.”
Letter to the Editor: Vote for Principal, not Politics
Vote for principle, not politics.
On November 2nd voters in Weare and Goffstown have the opportunity to elect eight State Representatives and one State Senator. While elections are fiercely partisan, many voters consider themselves independents. In fact, the number of voters registered as undeclared far outnumbers that of either major party.
If you want to support higher state spending and taxes, look no further than incumbent Democrats in the state legislature, who used their majority power to escalate state spending 24% over the last 2 budget cycles. Most Republicans in the House voted against the hikes but were out-numbered on all key votes in the legislature. Not only were current spending levels increased to a record amount, but because of the salary and benefit packages awarded to state workers, they saddled future generations of New Hampshire taxpayers with massive unfunded liabilities for decades to come. This “kick the can down the road” mentality will lead to unsustainable levels of government deficits and debt.
On the other hand, your Republican candidates have consistently voted for limited government and less regulation on businesses and personal affairs. Fiscal restraint is precisely what is needed at this time to kick-start the economy and generate jobs. Sustainable job growth comes from private sector investment, not from government agencies and vanishing “stimulus” money.
Politicians and lawmakers should follow the physician’s motto: “First, do no harm.” Get government out of the way. Reduce the regulatory and financial burdens on small businesses, homeowners, and taxpayers. Abide by the Constitution. Leave us alone. Live free or die!
If you agree with the principles of small government and individual liberty, vote for Republican State Rep candidates John Burt, John Hikel, Calvin Dean Pratt, Gary Hopper, Neal Kurk, Russ Day, and Mark Warden, along with Libertarian Party candidate Lisa Wilber. For State Senator, your fiscally conservative choices are Joe Kelly Levasseur in Goffstown and Andy Sanborn in Weare. If you want limited government, they share your principles and will work to restore the New Hampshire advantage.
